Every third weekend in June, celebrate Swedish and Lindsborg heritage, family fun and contemporary life on the "longest day of the year!" Swedish dancing, food, children's games, music, raising of the Midsummer Pole, Kubb tournament, fun run....we've got it all!
Old Fashion Fourth of July Celebration
Each Independence Day, bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a patriotic evening of fellowship and fun at the Swensson Park Bandshell, 400 block of N. Main St.
Smoky Valley Classic Car Show
On the first Saturday in August, the SVC Car Show distinction derives from the shade-filled location and small town friendliness. Popular awards and highlights are the Police Chief's Choice and Sheriff's Choice for the cars most likely to be stopped by those agencies, and the Kansas Highway Patrol award for the car most likely to be stopped for no reason at all! Located in Swensson Park, 400 block of N. Main St.
Svensk Hyllningsfest
Lindsborg's Svensk Hyllningsfest is a biennial tribute to the Swedish pioneers occurring in October of odd numbered years. The festival features art, crafts, special foods, ethnic music, folk dancing, parade, smörgåsbord, and special entertainment. Many of Lindsborg's residents don traditional Swedish folk costumes for the event. Swedish folk dance groups and musicians add to the Swedish flavor of the festival. Swedish music filters down the streets and through the windows during the three day festival. The first Svensk Hyllningsfest was held in October 1941, to honor the Swedish pioneers who settled in the Smoky Valley in 1868-69. Located at the 100 block of N. Main St.
Lucia Festival
A favorite Swedish holiday tradition, also observed in Lindsborg, is tied to the saintly figure of Lucia. Lucia arrives on the Winter Solstice, an emblem of light and comfort with candles in her hair and food in her hands. Lindsborg honors Lucia's sacrifice and martyrdom on the second weekend in December. The day begins with Swedish folk dancing downtown. A processional of girls in white carrying candles and stjärngosse (star boys) lead the crowd to the Bethany Lutheran Church where the town crowns a local Lucia. 320 N. Main St.
