Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery An 8 Wonders of Kansas! Art winner. The focal point of the gallery's art collections is the work of Birger Sandzén. It houses the largest and most extensive collection of his paintings, prints, drawings and watercolors found anywhere in the world. The gallery also has an impressive collection of prints, ranging from European to American regionalist printmakers, and a variety of art from Asia. The Gallery exhibits work by local and regional as well as nationally recognized artists, music programs, receptions, and docent tours for groups. Donations welcomed. 401 N. First St. Red Barn Studio An 8 Wonders of Kansas! Art finalist. Artist/craftsman Lester Raymer worked in painting, furniture carving, tapestry, jewelry, toy making, sculpture and pottery. His prolific output is astounding; the diverse craft techniques he employed, rare. Raymer's childhood memories of the family farm in Oklahoma and his mother's strong religious beliefs inspired his art in both style and subject matter. Horses, roosters and the circus dominate the artistic thread throughout his life; Christian motifs run through his painting, toys and sculpture. Donations welcomed. 212 S.
